Teaching Staff

Teaching Staff ESL Teacher :: Marion Baartmans Marion BaartmansI have been working at Duke Street for about a year but did volunteering work here (in the playgroup area) for many years in the past. I used to teach English in secondary and adult schools in the Netherlands, where I come from. In Australia I have been teaching at different community centres and a few years ago, I extended my teaching qualifications to IT after I completed a post graduate course at Melbourne University.I live locally with partner and three children and many pets and travel back to the Netherlands every couple of years to see my sister and mother and other relatives and friends.I enjoy teaching my students the language skills needed to live in a foreign country and often refer to my own migration experience when planning my classes. Seeing students learn new skills is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
