What is a "browser"?

Surfing the web (exploring/finding/researching) is made possible by "web browsers". They are like a doorway to enter the internet. They allow you to search for and view various kinds of information on the Web, such as web sites, video, audio, etc. Browsers such as Firefox, Explorer, Safari allow you to access any content you like. There are no restrictions to the sort of information you can find. This however, can create problems if a child has unrestricted access to the internet.

That is why children-specific browsers have been developed. These browsers restrict the type of content children can access and allow them to stay safe from unsuitable material.

If you are concerned about your children's safety online, we strongly urge you to consider installing one on the computer your children use.

Remember, you as a parent or guardian need to be continually learning about the very rapid developments that happen on the internet. Stay informed and keep your kids safe. If you would like to join a class to improve your computer and internet skills, why don't you consider joining one of our classes at Duke St. Community House.

More information about browsers

Buddy Browser
Buddy Browser? provides 100% Free, safe, secure, fun, and educational means for children to use the Internet, communicate with friends and prevent viewing of inappropriate content. Buddy Browser is a Completely Safe Browser !

Kids Rocket

.Kids Rocket is a web browser for kids, that also protects your desktop from click happy little fingers!

How does it work?
Its really simple really. Instead of letting the browser have access to the whole world wide web and 'trying' to filter out the bad content, like most childrens internet browsers, filtering software do. We blocked out the entire internet and only let the browser access limited, top quality, child related web sites. It's kind of a K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) approach, but it works great!
